Marma therapy is a traditional ayurvedic therapy that utilizes the knowledge of 'MARMA' or vital points in the body to manage pain related to muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons and injuries.
There are various schools of techniques like 'Vadakkan mura' and Thekkan mura'. The thekkan mural has its roots in Tamil 'Varma kalai' or Agasthya marma.
Marma therapy is known as Sandhi Sandhana Therapy in Northern India. All these techniques involve specialized massage and stretching some elements of which is similar to the chiropractic techniques practiced in the Europe and USA.
